Healthcare
There is an inextricable link between housing, access to quality healthcare, & individuals, families, and community's overall health since stable housing is a critical social determinant of health, along with other determinants like transportation, access to healthy foods, air and water quality, and community opportunities and safety.
We address these areas of Healthcare:
- Expand healthcare coverage for Houstonians and Texans.
- Improve health equity by reducing racial health disparities across the Houston region & state of Texas, primarily focused on the intersection of housing, healthcare, and food security.
Health & Healthcare
Placed over 300,000 Robo-Calls to educate citizens on the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and the enrollment deadlines. Participated in enrollment fairs assisting in completion of applications.
Riverside Hospital
While participating in a campaign to minimize displacement of Third Ward residents, ccppi also supported public and county officials in securing Riverside Hospital. Harris County Commissioner’s Court voted to buy and revive the property into an integrated primary and behavioral health care outpatient facility, which will reestablish health care access in Third Ward. During the transition phase, we seek to participate in and support deployment of the plan to transform Riverside Hospital into an integrated primary care and healthcare facility.
